I think I just finished a new Grinding. I have 6 metal "canvases" prepared for a show coming up around a tight corner (April 1st @ Chaisse in Vancouver). So I am aiming for completing two a week. The first one is often the most difficult--getting into the right focus and rythm but now I feel more in command of my grinder and what I want it to translate onto the metal. I'm still learning how to control so many different layers. It's almost as if there are two or three "paintings" sharing one "canvas", it is a challenge to integrate them and anticipate how the light will move around the metal. It's fun to watch people react to this shifting aspect of the piece and see their heads moving back and forth or putting their hand up to it to double check that it is flat and not 3-D.

Back to work. Panel #2 is waiting for etching, grinding, torching, waxing
somewhere in that grey hunk of metal is a shimmering world just beyond this one. I will try to find the portal between my brain blocks & technical difficulties and coax it out...or climb in
